Redeemer Health is committed to providing services within the community and continually offers training opportunities to people who are interested in beginning a career in healthcare. We offer free training programs to teach you the skills needed to care for older adults in their homes.


Q: What are the duties of a Home Health Aide?

A: Home Health Aides are responsible for providing a safe, secure and healthy environment for the patient in their home. Some of the job duties include:

  • Providing personal care, such as assisting with bathing, dressing and grooming
  • Assist with walking or carrying out physical therapy exercises
  • Monitoring the patient’s condition by observing physical and mental states
  • Reminding patients to take their medications
  • Light housekeeping duties, such as bed making, laundry, shopping, cooking meals or running errands

Q: What are the requirements to become a Home Health Aide?

A: Those who are interested in becoming a Home Health Aide must have:

  • Basic math and reading skills (required)
  • High school diploma or GED (preferred)
  • A driver’s license and a car (required)

Training is provided to applicants with the potential of becoming an employee with Redeemer Health. Potential employees must be able to complete a physical examination and provide work-related references. A criminal history background investigation and motor vehicle record check from various state and federal agencies will also be conducted and employment is contingent upon the results of those inquiries.

A: Redeemer Health can provide you with the tools to begin your new career in healthcare. Our training class is taught by a Registered Nurse who has experience teaching new caregivers the skills needed to provide care to patients in their home. Our class is held several times a year in our office in Northeast Philadelphia. The training class is typically held Monday through Friday for two weeks (10 days) between the hours of 9:00am – 4:30pm. The training class is FREE. Once you have successfully completed training, employment opportunities may be discussed.
